The Power picked up four points in the standings this past weekend after sweeping the Peoria Mustangs in the 5th and 6th meetings between the two teams this season. The Power sits in first place in the tight-raced Central Division at 25-7-2-0 with 52 points in 34 games. Just 8 points separate the top four teams in the division.
Friday night the Power took game one with a 3-1 victory. Lucca Weinkauf got the scoring started at 11:19 of the first period for his 8th goal of the season off assists from Mike Sobaski (8) and Brody Josseyln (10) for a 1-0 lead after the first period. Mike Sobaski added a goal of his own, his 10th of the season, at 16:30 of the second period off Trace Shumlas (4) and Weinkauf (13) assists for the only scoring in the period and a 2-0 lead at the end of two periods. Peoria cut the lead in half when Rex Rhodes scored at 9:49 of the third period. It stayed that way until just under two minutes to play when Tommy Kundinger (8) found the back of the net to seal the win. Kundinger was assisted by Brayden Graning (13) and Danny Jurcich (5). Adam Prokop earned the victory in the Power net, stopping 18/19 Peoria shots. The Power had 33 shots on goal.
The Palermo’s Screamin Sicilian Three Stars of the Game were third star Tommy Kundinger, second star Lucca Weinkauf and first star Mike Sobaski. The Versi-foam Hard Hat Hardest worker of the game was Brayden Graning.
Saturday it was the home team striking first again when Danny Jurchich scored his 5th goal of the season at 6:46 off assists from Trace Shumlas (5) and Quinn O’Connor (9). Blake Mitchell added the Power’s second goal t 4:25 off assists from Lucca Weinkauf (14) and Evan Eisch (3) for a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. The lamp was lit 5 times in the second period, three times by the Power and twice by the Mustangs. At 18:54, Skyar Thomkins scored for the Mustangs. Weinkauf scored his ninth goal of the season at 10:45 off assists from Evan Eisch (4) and Mike Sobaki (9). Danny Jurchich tallied a goal just over a minute later, his 6th of the season off assists from Quinn O’Connor (10) and Monte Goold (9). Jackson Hoem extended the lead to 5-1 with his 20th goal of the season at 3:53 off assists from Teagan Scheurer (20) and Brody Josselyn (11). Peoria was able to answer at 1:34 when Wyatt Duke got one past Power goaltender Ben Glaseman. Jace Fitzgerald scored the Power’s sixth goal of the night with 2:58 remaining, his 10th of the season off assist from Blake Mitchell and Brody Josselyn (12). Peoria added their third goal of the night less than a minute later, but the game ended in a 6-3 Power victory. Ben Glaseman earned the victory in the Power net with 22 saves on Peoria’s 25 shots. The Power had 32 shots on goal.

The Power hits the road this weekend for a triple header weekend. Friday, they travel to Tomah to take on the Wisconsin Woodsmen at 7:15 at the Tomah Ice Center. They have a quick turnaround and will take on the Jr. Blues in St. Louis on Saturday at 3:30pm and again on Sunday at 11:40am. at Affton Ice Rink. All games will be broadcast on NA TV.
