Weekend Recap – Power splits with West Division Minnesota Loons

Oct 10, 2022

The West Division Minnesota Loons traveled to West Bend from Breezy Point, MN this past weekend and went home with 2 points after splitting with the Power.

Friday night it was all Minnesota.  The Power couldn’t find a kick start and played 3 periods of uninspired hockey.  The talented Loons were able to find the net once each period for a 3-0 shutout.  Scoring for Minnesota was Corbin Schiebel, Blake Keller and Dimitri Kuleshov.  Keaton French recorded the shutout in the Loons net.  Spencer Northway stopped 30 of 33 shots for the Power.

Saturday the Power came out with the energy, but the Loons managed to get on the board first, when Corbin Schiebel got one past Power goaltender Adam Prokop at the 6:13 mark.  The Loons went up 2-0 at 8:44 in the second when Evan Fritze shot one from the blue line past a screened Prokop.   The Power finally got on the board when Mike Dalaly netted the first goal of the weekend at the 10:19 mark off assists from Patrick Toomey and Owen Drake.  The Power tied it up at the 17:55 mark when Riley Planey went top shelf off a beautiful feed from Gavin Reidy and Colin March.  Connor O’Neal tallied the third goal of the period, giving the Power the 3-2 lead at the 19:43 mark.  He was assisted by Owen Drake and Justin Lagrow.

Jack Kritzek tied the game for the Loons in the third period at the 8:48 mark, bringing it back to 3-3.  The Power took the lead on what proved to be the winning goal at the 17:17 mark when Owen Drake went blocker side high off assists from Justin LaGrow and Connor O’Neal for the Power’s fourth goal of the night.  The victory was secured with an empty net goal scored by Justin LaGrow at the 19:28 mark.

The Power moves to 5-4-1 into second place in the Central Division with 11 points.

The Ally 3-Stars of the Game were Riley Planey, Mike Dalaly and Owen Drake.  The Versi-foam Hard Hat Player of the Game was Justin LaGrow.  The Kundinger Power Player of the Week goes to Owen Drake who had the game winning goal Saturday and tallied 2 assists.

The Power has a home and away series with the Oregon Tradesmen this coming weekend. The Power travels to the Oregon Ice Arena Friday, October 14 for a 7:30 match up and returns home to Kettle Moraine Ice Center on Saturday, October 15.  Game time is 7:30pm.  Saturday is Mental Health Awareness night in conjunction with NAMI Washington County.
