Weekend Recap – Power splits with Rochester

The Power and Rochester faced off for the final regular season meeting over the weekend.  The Power was victorious on Friday, but the Grizzlies handed the Power just their first loss on home ice for the weekend split.

FRIDAY

Nolan Mix got the scoring started for the Power in his first game with the Power with a goal with his 18th goal of the year off assists from Shaun Paulson (13) and Nathan Antti.(10).  Mix’s goal was the only scoring in the period for a 1-0 lead after the first period of play.  Rochester scored a power play goal at 1:14 of the second period for a 1-1 tie after two periods of play.  The Power found the back of the net three times in the third period.  Jackson Hoem (8) scored off assists from Danny Jurcich (30) and Quinn O’Connor (27) at 13:00.  Mason Wanka scored the game winning goal at 6:39 off assists from Aidan Callaghan (33) and Shaun Paulson (14) and Blake Kohnen (10) sealed the victory with an empty net goal at 2:52 off assist from Nolan Mix (19) and Jackson Hoem (21).  Rochester added a goal with 26 seconds remaining for a 4-2 final. Sam Ahl stopped 40/42 Rochester shots on goal.  The Power had 27 shots on goal.

The Palermo’s Screamin’ Sicilian Three Stars of the Game were third star Jackson Hoem, second star Nolan Mix and first star Mason Wanka.  The Versi-foam Hard Hat Hardest Worker of the Game was Jace Fitzgerald.

SATURDAY

n a penalty-ridden game Saturday, the Power suffered their first loss at Kettle Moraine Ice Center this season.   The visitors got the board first scoring at 16:10 of the first period, but the Power was able to answer twice.  Quinn O’Connor (16) scored at 6:46 off Danny Jurcich (31) and Tristan Hearly (7) assists and Aidan Callaghan (13) scored at 1:49 off assists from Mason Wanka (22) and Shaun Paulson (16) for a 2-1 lead after the first period of play.  Rochester scored twice in the second period for a 3-2 lead after two periods.  The fireworks erupted in the third period with 4 total goals and over 100 minutes in penalties.  Danny Jurcich (19) scored the lone goal for the Power at 3:39 off assists from Blake Kohnen (28) and Nathan Antti (11) but couldn’t pull any closer and took a 6-3 loss.  Ben Glaesman suffered the loss in the Power net stopping 32/28 Rochester shots on goal. The Power had 27 shots on goal.

UP NEXT

The Power will travel to Wausau Friday to take on the Cyclones at Marathon Park before returning back to Kettle Moraine Ice Center Saturday for SKATE WITH THE POWER night. Fans can bring their skates or rent them for free and skate with the Power players after the game.  Game time Friday is 7:10pm and the home game Saturday at Kettle Moraine Ice Center is 7:30pm.
