The Power faced the Woodsmen in a home and away series to wrap up the regular season over the weekend, picking up 3 of a possible 4 points with an overtime 2-1 loss Friday at KMIC and a 6-2 victory Saturday in Tomah. The Power finished the regular season at a stellar 41-3-2-1 with 85 points in first place in the Central Division, holding the highest seed in the Central Division playoffs.
Friday
In Friday’s Fan and Billet Appreciation Night, the Power treated the KMIC faithful to overtime, but for only the second time on home ice this season, suffered a loss as the Wisconsin Woodsmen edged past the Power with a 2-1 victory at Kettle Moraine Ice Center.
The opening goal came at 5:12 of the first period when Tristan Pownall found the net for the Woodsmen, assisted by Josh Kauppinen and Parker Holloway. for a 1-0 visitor lead after the first period. The Power responded in the second period when Michael Maillette scored his ninth goal of the season at 7:24, assisted by Tristan Hearley (10) and Armani Fisher (12) to tie things up 1-1 after two periods of play. There was no scoring in the third period. The game went to overtime, where Pownall was able to send his team home with the win, scoring his second goal of the night a minute into the overtime period. Ben Glaseman suffered the loss in the Power net, stopping 13 of 15 Woodsmen shots on goal. The Power had 40 shots on goal.
Saturday
The Power traveld to Tomah for the final regular season game of the year and answered strong to Friday’s loss with a commanding 6-2 victory on the road. Nolan Mix (20) got the scoring started at 15:55 of the first period, scoring off assists from Mason Wanka (26) and Shaun Paulson(18). Michael Maillette (10) scored the second goal at 11:12 off assists from Evan Burchardt (20) and Tristan Hearly (11) for a 2-0 lead after the first period of play. There was no scoring in the second period. After two power play goals from the Woodsmen to tie the game at 2-2 early in the third period, the Power scored four unanswered for the 6-2 vicotry. Mason Wanka (19) scored what proved to be the game winning goal at 13:57 off assists from Nathan Antti (14) and Nolan Mix (23). Mix (21) scored his second of the night, a shorthanded goal at 9:08 off assists from Maillette (8) and Drew Sparacino (35). Jackson Hoem tallied his 12th goal of the season at 3:27 off Shaun Paulson (19) and Antti (15) assists. Jace Fitzgerald (29) finished the scoring with a power play goal at 2:18 off assists from Sparacino (36) and Blake Kohnen (30). Sam Ahl earned the victory in the Power net, stopping 30 of 32 shots on goal. The Power had 50 shots on goal.

UP NEXT
The Power will face the St. Louis Jr. Blues in the first round of the Central Division playoffs in a best of three series. Friday’s game will be home at Kettle Moraine Ice Center at 7:30pm. Game two will be in St. Louis Saturday at Affton Ice Rink at 7:45 pm. Game three, if necessary, will be back at KMIC Sunday at 7:30pm. The winner will advance to Central Divisoin finals against the winner of the Rochester Grizzlies and Wausau Cyclones series. Watch Power social media for game details.
