The West Bend Power opened the 2026-27 season on the road Saturday night in Rochester, falling to the Grizzlies 3-2 in a shootout. The Power earned one point in the season opener.
West Bend jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period.
At 16:15, Adam Sexton scored the Power’s first goal of the 2026-27 season, finishing off a pass from Nathan Antti. Just two and a half minutes later, Ivan Schmitz capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play to extend the Power’s lead to 2-0. Antti picked up his second assist of the night on the goal.
Rochester answered early in the second period when Andrew Sherland scored at 1:51, cutting the Power’s lead to 2-1 heading into the second intermission.
The Grizzlies tied the game at 10:37 of the third period when Conrad Edlund scored off a faceoff win. Neither team was able to break the tie in the remainder of regulation, sending the game to overtime.
After a scoreless overtime period, the season opener went to a shootout.
Rochester goaltender Cameron Patrick stopped all three Power shooters, while the Grizzlies’ Dominic Arndt found the back of the net against West Bend goaltender Jacob Iallonardo to secure the 3-2 victory for Rochester.
Iallonardo finished the night with 27 saves, while the Power recorded 34 shots on goal.
Despite the loss, West Bend earns a point in the standings and will look to build on the strong start as the 2026-27 season continues.
