Weekend Recap – Power falls to Wausau

With first place in the Central Division on the line, the Wausau Cyclones traveled to Kettle Moraine Ice Center and took care of business, defeating the Power 6-3.

The Cyclones jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Jack Dawley at 14:19. Tommy Kundinger (4) answered with a Power goal at 12:27 off assists from Bryce Garber (20) and Connor O’Neal (12) for a 1-1 tie after the first period. Connor D’vorak scored twice in the second period at 19:26 (power play) and 16:01 to give the visitors a 2-goal advantage until Bryce Garber scored his 26th goal of the season at 13:09 to bring the Power back within one.  Adam Wiggins extended the Cyclones lead at 8:48 for 4-2 margin after two periods. The third period Wausau added another when Ricky Nelson scored at 14:50. With the goalie pulled, the Power was able to tally a third goal at 3:11 when Tommy Kundinger scored his second of the night.  Wausau sealed the victory with an empty net goal at 2:34 for the 6-2 final and Central Division regular season championship.

The Power will be home Friday, March 1 at 7:30pm for FAN and BILLET APPRECIATION NIGHT sponsored by Westbury Bank.  All fans will receive free raffle tickets for a chance to win great prizes as an appreciation of your support this season.  Our billets will be recognized at the first intermission.  Team photos will be available.

The Power will start the first round of the playoffs with a home game on Friday, March 8, 7:30pm against the Oregon Tradesmen.  The rest of the series games and times TBA.  Tickets can be purchased in advance HERE.
