With first place in the Central Division on the line, the Wausau Cyclones traveled to Kettle Moraine Ice Center and took care of business, defeating the Power 6-3.
The Cyclones jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Jack Dawley at 14:19. Tommy Kundinger (4) answered with a Power goal at 12:27 off assists from Bryce Garber (20) and Connor O’Neal (12) for a 1-1 tie after the first period. Connor D’vorak scored twice in the second period at 19:26 (power play) and 16:01 to give the visitors a 2-goal advantage until Bryce Garber scored his 26th goal of the season at 13:09 to bring the Power back within one. Adam Wiggins extended the Cyclones lead at 8:48 for 4-2 margin after two periods. The third period Wausau added another when Ricky Nelson scored at 14:50. With the goalie pulled, the Power was able to tally a third goal at 3:11 when Tommy Kundinger scored his second of the night. Wausau sealed the victory with an empty net goal at 2:34 for the 6-2 final and Central Division regular season championship.
The Power will be home Friday, March 1 at 7:30pm for FAN and BILLET APPRECIATION NIGHT sponsored by Westbury Bank. The Power will start the first round of the playoffs with a home game on Friday, March 8, 7:30pm against the Oregon Tradesmen. The rest of the series games and times TBA. Tickets can be purchased in advance HERE.
