Weekend Preview – Power hosts Wausau for two game weekend series

Oct 24, 2024

The Wausau Cyclones will travel to West Bend to face the Power Friday and Saturday at Kettle Moraine Ice Center.  Friday is Pink the Rink night for girls’ hockey weekend and breast cancer awareness.  Saturday is Halloween Costume Contest, trick-or-treating and a post-game costume skate. Both games are at 7:30pm. Culligan Water of West Bend is the weekend sponsor.

Wausau currently sits in first place of the Central Division with a 10-1-0-0 record and 20 points.  The Power is in 4th place with 12 points.  The Cyclones are coming off a weekend sweep of the St. Louis Jr. Blues and the Power is coming off a one-game loss to the Rochester Grizzlies.  This is the first meeting of the season between the two teams.  Last year. the teams split the regular season meetings, each team winning 4 games.  The Power broke that tie in the postseason, winning 2 in the best of 3 series for the Central Division playoff championship.

The Power is led in scoring by Jackson Hoem (13 points), Jace Fitzgerald (10 points) and Mike Sobaski (8 points).  Wausau is led in scoring by Jake Garrow, who has tallied 12 goals on the season.

The Power will look to step up its offensive efforts, particularly on the Power play, as Wausau has allowed just 19 goals this season, the 4th fewest in the NA3HL.

“We’re looking forward to being out on our home ice as we continue to improve and continue to grow as a team,” said Head Coach Jason Woods.
