Finishing Strong

Head Coach Jason Woods highlighted the need for mindfulness with the workload in front of the team the next five days. “It’s a busy 5 days ahead for the boys,” said Woods. “The challenge in front of them is substantial. We just need to put our heads down and go to work one day at a time.”

Across the Aisle

The St. Louis Jr. Blues find themselves on another three-game losing streak. Their most recent victory was on Dec. 2 at home against West Bend 3-2. The Jr. Blues remain last in the Central Division with a record of 3-16-0-2 and 8 points.

Despite having a -61 goal differential, fifth worst in the NA3HL leaguewide, the St. Louis goaltending tandem has produced solid numbers. Their starter, Jordan Behnen, has a 0.895 save percentage despite allowing an average of 4.60 goals per game. Czech netminder Matyas Bajgar earned a 0.916 save percentage and 3.70 goals allowed average through six games this season.

With a young core growing into the junior hockey style of play, leadership remains pivotal. Leading his team with 11 assists and 18 points through 17 games, Connor Westbrock is showing the young Jr. Blues team work ethic. This appears to have rubbed off on one forward already. Rookie Mason Wright is first on his squad with 8 goals in 21 games this season. Wright also is second behind Westbrock with 9 assists and 17 points in the same timeframe.
