The Beginnings of a Rivalry

Oct 5, 2018

The Power capped off the first month of the season in dramatic fashion against the Coulee Region Chill  with a final score of 2-1. This game had the make up to be the start of a real division rivalry that will give us even more great games to come.

The 1st period was a stalemate as both sides failed to get double-digit shots on net. Logan Geisness opened the scoring for the Power early in the 2nd period with some commotion in front of the net caused by Caleb Beversdorf."We'll take those gritty goals anytime we can, especially with how good the goaltending was tonight," said Fred Berry, Head Coach. With just over five-minutes left in the 2nd Coulee would respond to tie the game on a power play goal.

The 3rd period featured physicality, speed, and great goaltending by both sides. The score remained tied until Ivan Bilyy scored his first NA3 goal to give the Power the lead with less than eight minutes remaining.

Aaron Dickstein was on fire between the pipes for the Power making second and third chance saves, in what may have been his best game so far, to keep the lead intact and grab win number seven.

Coming Up Next
The Power take on the Breezy Point North Stars this weekend for their first road trip of the season. Breezy has had a rough start with a record of 1-5 after losing both games last weekend to the Whalers. "1-5 and 7-0 are dangerous numbers, they are looking to bounce back to get their season on track and we need to make sure we give them our best hockey especially being on the road for the first time this year," said Austin Keiser, Assistant Coach.

The puck drops at 7:30PM both nights in Breezy Point and if you can't make the trip you can watch the games on HockeyTV.
