Preview – Power Head to Rochester for Two-Game Series

Jan 28, 2022

This weekend, the Power will play two games in Rochester, Minnesota against the Grizzlies. The Power have yet to win against the Grizzlies this season, who sit in fifth place overall and are guaranteed to make an appearance in the playoffs. The two teams last faced off for a single game at the beginning of December; Rochester took the upper hand and shut out the Power 3-0.

The Grizzlies have had themselves an exciting year, recording only eight losses since their season began on Sept. 17. However, five of those losses occurred since Showcase, which was just over a month ago. Rochester’s only win during their week in Blaine was against the Helena Bighorns on day two. Coming off of Showcase, they were swept by the Peoria Mustangs at the beginning of January and split a series with the Oregon Tradesmen the following weekend. The Grizzlies have since gotten back on track; they’re currently on a three-game winning streak after sweeping the St. Louis Jr. Blues last week.

Unlike Rochester, the Power is on a three-game losing streak. Earlier this month, they faced the Wausau Cyclones and fell short after a 6-5 loss. Milwaukee looked to redeem themselves during their two-game series in Peoria last week, but unfortunately couldn’t pull out a win. On Friday, Jan. 21, Max Erstad scored the team’s only goal of the night, ending the game with a 5-1 loss. Saturday was another rough one for the Power. Peoria scored a whopping nine goals, making it impossible for Milwaukee to make a comeback. The Mustangs won 9-2 and swept the series.

Although these last few games haven’t gone in the Power’s favor, they may have caught Rochester at the perfect time. Recently, the Grizzlies have recorded more losses than they’re used to, which might be exactly what the Power needs to get their momentum back. Their weekend in Rochester begins Friday, Jan. 28 at 7:05 p.m. and closes out on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 7:05 p.m. Hockey TV will stream both games live, so don’t miss out!
