Preview – Hitting the Road to Alexandria

Oct 13, 2021

The Power are back on the road this weekend as they head to Alexandria, Minnesota to take on the Blizzard for two games. Milwaukee is coming off of a split weekend with St. Louis and Alexandria beat Willmar in overtime on Saturday for their first win of the season. They do have a history having played each-other a total of eight times since the Power’s inaugural season. The Blizzard hold the edge in the all-time series having won five of the eight contests. However they did not face each other last season due to the covid restrictions of facing non-division opponents and the shortened schedule.

We can expect both sides to have great goaltending and with both offenses averaging three goals a game or better the goalies will be heavily tested. The difference in this series could come down to who gets off to the faster start and who can stay out of the penalty box. Milwaukee has 142 penalty minutes through sevens games, while Alexandria has 48 through six. The look Power to stay disciplined to not give the Blizzard the man advantage.

The Central Division standings did not change after last weekend with Peoria and St. Louis picking up their first wins. Peoria closed the gap to fourth place with a sweep of Wausau. This weekend Oregon hosts unbeaten Rochester, Peoria travels to New Ulm, and St. Louis heads to Wausau. The Central could see some changes in the standings depending on how the weekend shakes out and Milwaukee could find themselves in second place.
