The West Bend Power head to Illinois this weekend for their first road series of the 2026-27 NA3HL season against the Peoria Mustangs. The two teams will meet Friday, September 18, and Saturday, September 19, at the Owens Center in Peoria, with both games scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT.
West Bend opened the 2026-27 season last Saturday in Rochester, battling the Grizzlies to a 3-2 shootout loss. The Power jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period behind goals from Adam Sexton and Ivan Schmitz before Rochester battled back to tie the game and ultimately claim the extra point in the shootout. Despite the loss, West Bend earned one point in the standings and showed plenty of early-season promise. The Power will now look to turn that strong start into their first victory of the season.
Nathan Antti and Adam Sexton picked up two points each in the season opener, while Josh Graves and Ivan Schmitz each recorded a point. Goaltender Jacog Iallonardo made 29 saves in the Power net and enters the weekend with a 1.875 goals-against average.
Peoria enters the weekend with a 3-1-0 record after opening the season with a two-game sweep of the Wausau Cyclones and a split with the Wisconsin Woodsmen. After finishing sixth in the Central Division last season, the Mustangs have already made an early statement that this year’s club is ready to compete.
Forward Brendon Miller has picked up where he left off last season. Miller led the Mustangs with 52 points in 2025-26, recording 25 goals and 27 assists. He was an offensive force during Peoria’s opening weekend, scoring five goals and six points in the two victories over Wausau. Defenseman Zach Staelgraeve also enters the weekend with eight points, while Landen Smith has six points. In net, Peoria has received strong performances from three goaltenders. Chase Vaughn and Nolan Sanderson combined for 62 saves during the opening weekend, while Jaemeson Keith enters the weekend with a 4.41 GAA.
The Power will look for a balanced scoring effort and strong defensive play heading into the weekend.
“We got an opportunity to learn and correct our mistakes from our last outing. Practices have been at an all-time high this week, with our guys having the itch to get back on the ice for Peoria,” said Power Associate Head Coach Jeremy Ebert.
The weekend series marks the first of six regular-season meetings between the Power and Mustangs this season. For West Bend, it’s an opportunity to earn its first win while facing a Peoria team that has already found the back of the net 29 times through its first four games. The Power will need to bring the same intensity and compete level that helped them build an early lead against Rochester while limiting the Mustangs’ offensive opportunities.
