The Milwaukee Power traveled to Peoria this past weekend and came away with a sweep of the Mustangs and picked 4 points in the playoff standings.
Andrew Butler got the scoring started on Friday in his first game with the Power on a shorthanded goal with 6:06 to go in the first period. That was the only scoring through 2 periods of play with the Power holding a 1-0 lead. Matthew Ebersole scored the second goal of the night at 1:41 of the third off assists from Odin Klebba and Luke Nemeth. Keller made it a 3-goal lead at 8:41 of the third off a Max Mudge assist. The Mustangs were able to get on the board but couldn’t bring it closer and the Power opened the series with the victory. Adam Prokop saved 21 of 22 shots in the Power net.
Saturday the Mustangs struck first and early less than a minute into the game. Max Erstad tied it up on a power play wrap around goal at 6:52 of the first off of a Blake Keller assist to bring it to a 1-1 tie after one. The Power took a lead at 10:26 of the second when Blake Keller and Max Erstad assisted Mike Dalaly for the score. Peoria tied it up, but Bryce Garber gave the Power a 3-2 lead at the 12:38 mark off assists from Owen Drake and Connor O’Neal. It was Garber again in the third period scoring his second of the night which proved to be the game winner at 8:56. He was assisted by Blake Keller and Max Mudge. Adam Prokop secured his second win on the weekend with 39 saves.
The Kundinger Power Players of the weekend were Blake Keller with 4 points, Bryce Garber with 2 goals and Adam Prokop.
The Power returns home for an action-packed weekend at Kettle Moraine Ice Center Friday, February 17 and Saturday, February 18 for Hockey Fights Cancer Weekend in support of the American Cancer Society. Friday is our final Skate with the Power night sponsored by US Cellular West Bend. Fans will receive a rally towel compliments of US Cellular. It is also West Bend School District Night where all students and staff get in for $1. The West Bend Hight School Brass, Wind and Fire Band will be playing.
Saturday is our annual Teddy Bear Toss Night sponsored by Jones for Judge. Please bring new teddy bears to throw on the ice when the Power scores their first goal. Teddy bears will be donated to the West Bend Police Department, the Ronald McDonald House and the Family Promise of West Bend. There will be performances by the Kettle Moraine Figure Skating Club both Friday and Saturday.
