Power sweeps Minnesota Loons in Breezy Point

The Milwaukee Power extended their winning streak to 6 games and picked up four points after traveling to Breezy Point, MN and sweeping the West Division Minnesota Loons this past weekend.

Friday night both teams got off to a slow start with no scoring in the first period.  The Power found life after intermission and came out strong in the second period. Blake Keller started the scoring just 31 seconds in off assists from Mike Dalay and Max Erstad. Max Mudge scored at the 13:02 mark scoring off assists from Bryce Garber and Tyler Kowalchuck.  The Power’s third goal of the night came at 17:36 when Mike Dalaly fired from long range off assists from Blake Keller and Max Erstad bringing the score to 3-0 at the end of two periods.

The Power started the scoring in the third period when Bryce Garber scored an unassisted goal at the 3:36 mark.  The Loons were able to spoil the shutout scoring a power play goal at the 18:27 mark but the Power sealed the victory on an empty net, power play goal by Tyler Kowalchuck at 19:46. He was assisted by Owen Drake.

Adam Prokop stopped 30 of 31 Loon shots, earning his 12th win of the season.

Saturday the Power topped the Loons in a 5-3 final score. In the first period, the Power took the early lead with Connor O’Neal scoring the only goal of the period at the 2:17 mark off assists from Tyler Kowalchuck and Rocco Cicirello. In the second period, the Loons evened the game 1-1 just 36 seconds into the period. Later in the second period, Max Erstad took the lead back for the Power scoring off assists from Patrick Toomey and Mike Dalaly.

The Loons added two goals in the third period and took a 3-2 lead until the Power went on an offensive onslaught scoring three unanswered goals. Bryce Garber scored at the 11:49 mark, assisted by Connor O’Neal.  Max Erstad scored his second of the game at the 15:59 mark off assists from Blake Keller and Alex Thundercloud, and Jack Wojnowski sealed the victory off assist from Connor O’Neal and Bryce Garber at the 18:51 mark for a 5-3 final. Brett Holmer got the win stopping 31 s hots.

The Kundinger Power Player of the week goes to is Max Erstad with two goals and two assists on the weekend.

The Power is now 18-10-2-1 with 39 points in 4th place in the Central Division, just one point behind third-place Peoria.
