Power splits with Rochester at KMIC

It was a tale of two games this weekend at Kettle Moraine Ice Center in West Bend as the Power split the final regular season meeting between the two teams with the Grizzlies.  The Power came out on top Saturday 5-2 and the Grizzlies took game two 3-0.

Bryce Garber started the scoring for the Power on Saturday at the 5:03 mark of the first.  He was assisted by Zach Wolverton and Odin Klebba.  Luke Nemeth added a goal at the 16:26 mark off assists from Tyler Perkins and Mike Dalal giving the Power a 2-0 lead after the first.  The Power put up a strong 3-goal second period with goals from Connor O’Neal, assisted by Owen Drake and Rocco Cicirello and two from Mike Dalaly.  Dalaly’s first of the night was assisted by Max Mudge and Liam Fraser and his second, a power-play goal was assisted by Patrick Toomey and Bryce Garber giving the Power a 5-0 lead after two periods. The Grizzlies were able to get two goals in the penalty-laden third period, one one a pentaly shot, but were not able to close the gap and the Power took game one, 5-2.  Adam Prokop stopped 47 shots in the Power net.

The Ally three stars of the game were Bryce Garber, Mike Dalay and Adam Prokop.  The Versi-foam Hard Hat Player of the Game was Liam Fraser.

Sunday the game had a completely different tone, as the Grizzlies came out strong and didn’t let down.  They scored a power play goal just 1:39 seconds into the game to take the early lead.  The visitors second goal came at the 7:01 mark to take a 2-0 lead into the the second period.  The third and final goal of the game came at the 7:57 mark of the second period.  The Power was held to just 14 shots on goal.  Brett Holmer had 40 saves in the Power net.  Holmer was named the Versi-foam Hard Hat Player of the Game.

The Power is now 20-12-2-1 in third place in the Central Division, one point ahead of the Peoria Mustangs.

The Power’s next home game is Friday, January 27 against the Oregon Tradesmen at 7:30pm.  Friday is Big Brother/Big Sisters and another Youth Hockey Night sponsored by 6th Avenue BBQ Pit in downtown West Bend.

Saturday the Power will travel to Oregon in the home and away series to face the Tradesmen at the Oregon Ice Areana at 7:30pm.
