Power splits with Jr. Blues in St. Louis

The Power hit the road for the first time in the young 25-26 season and came away with a split with the Jr. Blues, losing 6-1 Friday and coming back for a 6-3 victory Saturday.

FRIDAY – The Jr. Blues started the scoring on the weekend with a Jace Jordan goal at 12:05 of the first period for a 1-0 lead after the first period of play. The second period belonged to the Jr. Blues, scoring 4 times in the perod.  Brody Josseyln scored his first goal back with the Power at 11:56 of the second period for the only goal on the night for the visitors.  He was assisted by Cooper Hedin (1).  The Blues sealed the vicotry with their sixth goal of the night at 17:12 of the third period for the 6-1 final.  The Jr, Blues outshot the Power 40-23.  Ben Knuton suffered the loss in the Power net.  Travis Visvardra earned the victory for St. Louis.

SATURDAY – Saturday started out much like Friday, with the Jr. Blues scoring first, with just 47 seconds to go in the first period for the 1-0 lead.  St. Louis added on with a short-handed goal at 15:56 of the second period for the 2-0 lead before Jace Fitzgerald (4) cut the deficit in half off an Asher Vander Ploeg (1) assist at 5:18 for a 2-1 score after two periods of play.  The third period turned into a wild ride, with the Power making a comeback and scoring five unawnswered goals.  St Louis extended their lead early in the third period on a Jack Vahle power-play goal at 19:31 but then the tides turned.  Even Burchardt scored  his first goal of the season at 11:43 to cut the lead to 3-2.  He was assisted by Adam Sexton, his frist of the season.  Jace Fitzgerald tied the game at 8:35 with his 5th goal of the seaon (unassisted) off a Jr. Blues turnover.  The already chippy game became heated at 6:03 when Rece Sanderson received at 5- minute major fighting penalty and game misconduct, putting the Power on a 5 minute power play.  Brody Josselyn quickly took advantage with his second goal of the weekendat 5:34 off assists from Drew Sparacino (1) and Evan Burchardt (1).  The Jr. Blues then received a bench minor, giving the Power a 5 on 3 power play, and Josselyn (3) again capitalized, bringing the score to 5-3.  Joselyn was assisted by Adam Sexton (2) and Sparacino (2).  Sparacino then scored one of his own, still on the 5-minute power play at 4:33 for the eventual 6-3 final.  He was assisted by Josseyln (1).

The Power outshot the Jr. Blues 43-28.  Ben Glaesman earned the victory in the Power net to move to 2-0-0 on the season while Travis Visvardra suffered his first loss of the season. The Power and the Jr. Blues both move to 3-1 on the season with 6 points each.

UP NEXT 

The Power will be on the road to Wausau this coming weekend, Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27 to take on the Cyclones at Marathon Park.  Boith games are at 7:10pm amd will be broadcast on NA TV.
