The Power traveled to Rochester, MN to open the 24-25 season and came away with a split with the Grizzlies winning 1-0 Friday and falling short 2-1 on Saturday.
The only scoring of the game on Friday came at 11:18 of the second period when Blake Mitchell got one past Rochester Goaltender Riley Swanson off assists from Mike Sobaski and Odin Klebba. Power goaltender Ben Glaseman got his first NA3HL start, securing a shutout, stopping 23 Rochester shots on goal. The Power had 29 shots on goal.
Saturday started out much like Friday with no scoring in the first period. The Power got on the board first at 3:00 of the second period with a goal by Jackson Hoem, assisted by Monte Goold and Teagan Scheurer to take a 1-0 lead after two periods of play. Rochester was able to answer this time, scoring twice in the third for the eventual 2-1 victory. Rochester goals were scored by Noah Joyce and Andrew Lahaie. Dre Berndt collect an assist on the Lahaie goal. Power goaltender Owen Soderholm stopped 38 of 40 Rochester shots on goal. The Power had 29 shots on goal.
The Power will travel to Tomah this weekend to take on the Wisconsin Woodsmen in a one-game weekend, playing Saturday at 7:15pm at the Tomah Ice Arena. The game will be broadcast on NA TV.
