Power Split In Willmar

Jan 21, 2020

The Power traveled to Willmar, Minnesota this past weekend to take on the WarHawks in a two game series. Heading into the series the Power were getting their Captain, Garrett Alton, back in the lineup for the first time since the Showcase back in mid-December.

Ty Barnhill would get the start in net on Friday night for his 13th of the season. Ryan Hoover put the Power up early capitalizing on a takeaway. The WarHawks were able to answer with a score of their own as the 1st ended tied at one a side. In the 2nd period the WarHawks added three straight goals before Garrett Alton scored two in the final minute to bring the Power back within one. The WarHawks would add three more goals in the 3rd to win with a final of 7-3. Barnhill made 59 saves on 66 shots in the loss.

On Saturday Joey Greilich got the start in net for his 17th of the season. Garrett Alton would light the lamp again for Milwaukee to put the Power up 1-0 late in the 1st. The WarHawks would tie it in the 2nd but not for long as Ryan Butt would score twice to give Milwaukee a two goal lead. The Power would increase their lead in the 3rd with goals from Wesley Knutson, Griffin Nickerson, and Brady Rossbach to make the final 6-1 to grab win number 9 for Milwaukee. Greilich had one of, if not his best game of the season making 56 saves on 57 shots to pick up his 5th win.

The Power look forward to a bit of rest with this next weekend off but they are also preparing for the two game series coming up in Wausau.

Joey Greilich and Vince Palade will be spending some time back in Minnesota this week as they got the call to practice with the Minnesota Wilderness of the NAHL.

Garrett Alton was named the Central Division Star of the Week with three goals and one assist in two games in his first action of 2020.
