The Power hosted the Wisconsin Woodsmen for two games at Kettle Moraine Ice Center for Hockey Fights Cancer weekend, and for the third straight weekend, came out with two wins for the sweep.
In Friday’s 5-2 victory it was Zach Wolverton (3) that got the scoring started at 10:20 of the first period off an assist from Jace Fitzgerald (19) for the only scoring in the period. Bryce Garber quickly added to the Power lead at 18:22 of the second with his 21st goal of the season off assists from linemates Andrew Butler (22) and Nik Johnson (20). Cole Fenske made it a 3-goal lead at 17:41 with his 15th goal of the season off assists from Nik Johnson (21) and Mike Sobaski (7). The Woodsmen were able to answer twice, with goals at 18:58 and 34.6 to bring it to a 3-2 margin at the end of the second period. Odin Klebba made it a 4-2 lead for the home team in the first minute of the third period off assists from Max Mudge (21) and Owen Drake (9). It was Drake that sealed the victory with an empty net goal with 16 seconds remaining, his 9th of the season. He was assisted by Odin Kelbba (6) and Teagan Scheurer (20).
Ian Kangas, making his debut with the Power got the victory in the Power net, saving 44/46 shots on goal. The Power had 44 shots on goal.
In Saturday’s 8-3 victory, it was looking like the teams would be heading into the first intermission knotted at 0, but things changed quicky in the last two minutes of the period, as the Power found the back of the net 3 times. Captain Connor O’Neal got the surge started at 1:11 with his 13th goal of the season off assists from Max Mudge (22) and Owen Drake (10). Zach Wolverton scored his second goal in as many games at 49.5 off assists from Teagan Scheurer (21) and Jace Fitzgerald (20) and then Bryce Garber (22) added a third goal at 25.1 off assists from Nik Johnson (22) and Liam Fraser (4). It was Garber again scoring his 23rd goal of the season at 16:34 of the second to give the Power a 4-0 lead. He was assisted by Zach Wolverton (13) and Teagan Scheurer (22). Tomah responded with goals at 13:35 and 9:23 to bring the visitors within 2, but Cole Fenske extended the lead to 5-2 with his 16th goal of the season at 4:55 off assists from Jace Fitzgerald (21) and Teagan Scheurer (23). The Power kept adding on in the third period, scoring three times. Jace Fitzgerald tallied his 13th goal of the season at 10:22 off assists from Teagan Scheurer (24) and Cole Fenske (16). Garber netted his third goal of the night and 24th on the season off assists from Andrew Butler (23) and Nik Johnson (23). This was the Power’s first hat trick of the season. The Power wasn’t done scoring, as Lucca Weinkauf scored his second of the season at 15:16 for an 8-2 lead. The Woodsmen were able to get a third goal at 11:15 but that is where the night ended, with an 8-3 Power victory.
Ian Kangas got his second win in a Power uniform, saving 30/33 shots on goal. The Power had 31 shots on goal.

The Power hits the road for a two-game series with the Wausau Cyclones this weekend. Both games are at Marathon Park with a 7:10 puck drop each night and will be broadcast on NAHL TV. The Power returns home to Kettle Moraine Ice Center Saturday, February 24 for SKATE WITH THE POWER/YOUTH HOCKEY NIGHT and rally towel giveaway sponsored by Alpha Custom Apparel. Game time is 7:30pm.
