Power picks up 3 points on weekend, remains undefeated at home

The Power and the Wisconsin Woodsmen faced off in a two-game home and away series and the Power came away with 3 points and remain undefeated at Kettle Moraine Ice Center.  The Power are now 20-2-1-1 with 42 points in first place in the Central Division.

Friday’s game went to overtime before the Woodsmen took game one by a score of 3-2.  The Woodsmen struck first, scoring at 18:43 of the first period.  The Power responded twice to take a 2-1 lead in the second period with a Jace Fitzgerald (18) goal at 17:06, assisted by Blake Kohnen (8) and Adam Sexton (10) and a Kohnen (7) power play goal at 9:14 assisted by Fitzgerald (15) and Quinn O’Connor (16).  The Woodsmen were able to answer with a Maxim Lazo power play goal at 2:09 to tie the game after two periods of play.  There was no scoring in the third period by either team, pushing the game to overtime.  At 4:17 of the overtime period, Nolan Mix was able to score, giving the Woodmen the victory and ending the Power’s 13-game winning streak.  Ben Glaesman took the loss in the Power net, stopping 11/14 shots on goal.  The Power had 28 shots on goal.

The Power responded in a big way Saturday back on home ice with a commanding 11-1 victory. The 11 goals scored is a franchise record for number of goals scored in a game for the Power.  Cole Craft got things started for the Power with his 6th goal of the season at 17:27 of the first period.  He was assisted by Elias Holan (4) and Hunter O’Neal (2).  Danny Jurcich (6) scored a power play goal, what proved to be the game winning goal at 9:04, assisted by Blake Kohnen (19) and Quinn O’Connor (17).  Armani Fisher (6) scored the Power’s third goal at 2:47 of the first off Elijah Covey (6) and Jace Fitzgerald (16) assist for a 3-0 lead after the first period of play.  Only one goal was scored in the second period, Adam Sexton scored his 4th goal of the season off assists from Drew Sparacino (17) and O’Neal (3) for a 4-0 Power lead after two periods of play.  The flood gates opened in the third period, where the Power found the back of the net seven times.  Here’s what the period scoring looked like; 18:43 Fisher (7) goal off assists from Evan Burchardt (8) and Fitzgerald (17), 16:34 Jackson Hoem (7) goal off Sparacino (18) and O’Neal (4) assists, 14:58 Covey (1) goal off Fitzgerald (18) and Kohnen (20, 10:26 O’connor (8) goal off Owen Miller (3) and Tristan Hearly (3) assists, 10:05  O’Connor (9) goal off Burchardt (9) and Hoem (16) assists, 5:03 Hearly (4) power play goal off Covey (7) and Hoem (17) assists, and Fisher (8) completed his hat trick at 2:36 off Burchardt (10) and Wyatt Emmett (1) assists.  The Woodsmen scored one goal on the night at 4:27 of the period.  Sam Ahl earned the victory in the Power net, stopping 25/26 Woodsmen shots on goal.  The Power has 51 shots on goal.

The Palermo’s Screaming Sicilian 3 Stars of the Game were third star Drew Sparacino, second star Armani Fisher, first star Sam Ahl.  The Versifoam Hard Hat Hardest Worker of the Game was Hunter O’Neal.  The Culligan Water of West Bend Power Player of the Weekend is Jace Fitzgerald.

The Power will travel to Blaine, MN for the NA3HL Showcase December 14-16 at the Super Rink.  The Power will face the Texas Brahams Sunday, December 14 at 3:30pm on Rink 4.  They will face the Helena Bighorns Monday, December 15 at 3:45 on Rink 4 and take on the Granite City Lumberjacks Tuesday, December 16 at 2:30pm on Rink 3.  All games will be broadcast on NA TV.

The Power will then travel to St. Louis to take on the Jr. Blues December 20-21 before entering the Christmas break.  They will return home to Kettle Moraine Ice Center on Friday, January 2 to take on the Wausau Cyclones for SKATE WITH THE POWER night.
