Sep 12, 2024

The West Bend Power will kick off the 2024-25 season on the road in Rochester, MN this weekend as they face the Grizzlies at the Rochester Recreation Center in a two-game series.  Both Friday and Saturday’s games are at 7:05 pm and will be broadcast on NAHL TV.

The Power faced Rochester one-time last season, at the NA3HL league showcase. The Grizzlies topped the Power in an overtime thriller, 6-5.  The Grizzlies move back to the Central Division for the 24-25 season after the relocation of the Oregon Tradesmen.

The Power returns 10 players from the 23-24 season where they made their first trip to the Fraser Cup in franchise history.  Returning defensemen Mike Sobaski, Tommy Kundinger, Oliver Schroeder and Monte Goold will lead a strong D-core, while veterans Teagan Scheurer, Jace Fitzgerald, Lucca Weinkauf, Odin Klebba and Owen Amon return to lead the charge in the Power’s offensive efforts.  The Power has an incoming group of young talent who will work well with the mix of returners and newly acquired veterans Blake Mitchell (Peoria), Tyler Kowalchuck and Jake Sherry (El Paso).

“We’re excited to get games started,” said Power head coach Jason Woods.  “This group has worked extremely hard leading up to this opportunity and I’m excited to see where we are as a group.  Obviously, it’s a great challenge heading to Rochester week one, but I think it’s great to jump in the deep and see what we are made of!”

The Power will host a watch party for the season opener Friday, September 13, from 6:00 – 10:00pm at the Tower Heritage Center, 320 S. 5th Avenue. Bring the family and catch the action on the big screen here in West Bend.  Bring your own chairs/blankets and food.  The Washington County Historical Society will have popcorn for sale and a full cash bar available.
