The West Bend Power will open up the 2025-26 season this Friday, September 12 at 7:30pm at Kettle Moraine Ice Center against the Peoria Mustangs. The opening night tailgate game is sponsored by Graff Masonry. The teams will play a two-game match up, with game two Saturday, September 13 at 7:30pm. Saturday is Skate with the Power Night sponsored by Westbury Bank Fans can bring their skates or rent them for free at KMIC and skate with the Power players after the game.
The Power is returning 10 players from the 2024-25 Fraser Cup runner-up team. After losing a large group of age outs, the Power will look to the returners for experience while anticipating good things from the incoming new players. “It’s going to be interesting to see how we react in the new season. We lost a lot of talented, experienced players, but we have a lot of good, young energetic players stepping in to fill those spots. I like the product we have and the experience we have, and we’re really excited for this new season,” said Power head coach Jason Woods.
Returning players include goaltender Ben Glaesman, defensemen Hunter O’Neal and Drew Sparacino and forwards Evan Burchardt, Jace Fitzgerald, Sam Harper, Danny Jurcich, Quinn O’Connor, Grant Schaible and Drew Sysko.
Peoria has two games under their belt heading into the weekend, as they faced Jr Blues in St. Louis last weekend, falling 0-2 to start the season. Head coach Luke Gruden enters his first full season as Mustangs head coach after taking over mid-season last year. Gruden brings a sense of optimism as the Mustangs, who also have a combination of returners and new players will build off last season’s efforts with a goal of making it to the playoffs this year.
