The Power played two games at home this past weekend against the Peoria Mustangs. After the Mustangs recorded their second shutout of the season on Friday, the Power forced overtime on Saturday and pulled out a win with a game-winning goal by Max Erstad. Milwaukee successfully split the series and broke their losing streak.
This week, the Power face off against the Oregon Tradesmen with a home game on Thursday and two away games on Friday and Saturday. Milwaukee played a single game against Oregon at the end of October, which was a devastating 9-1 loss. The Tradesmen are nine points ahead of the Power and sit in second place in the Central Division standings.
Oregon is coming off this weekend with a split series against the Jr. Blues, who are in last place in the division. After a 4-3 win on Friday, the Tradesmen weren’t able to sweep St. Louis and lost in a shootout on Sunday. The Jr. Blues have only won four games this season, and two of those wins have been against the Tradesmen. With a team in second place losing to a team in last place, this may be Milwaukee’s chance to pick up some wins in this series.
The Power were able to snag two points this weekend after the much-needed overtime win. However, the team is only one point ahead of the Jr. Blues in the standings. This weekend will be crucial for Milwaukee to climb their way up the standings. With high morale after their win on Sunday, the Power will be ready to fight when Thursday comes.
