Matt Roadhouse has joined the Milwaukee Power as the Director of Player Development. In his role, Roadhouse will be responsible for working with the team’s hockey operations to assist in the development of current Power players and prospects, both on and off the ice. He will serve as a liaison between the Hockey Operations department and current prospects in the organization and assist in the evaluation of the team’s future prospects.
“It is an honor to join the ever-growing Milwaukee Power organization. I was born and raised in the Milwaukee area and have spent my entire life actively involved in Milwaukee area hockey through my family, as a player and a coach. I’m excited to get started as the Director of Player Development for the Power,” said Roadhouse.
Roadhouse will work closely with the Power’s VP Hockey Operations/GM Kevin Marion to further enhance the progression of the Power’s prospects by providing encouragement, guidance and education. Roadhouse will also be responsible for developing and overseeing the Power’s offseason prospect programming beginning in the spring of 2022.
“Matt comes from a family with tremendous hockey pedigree that has a strong connection to the Milwaukee and Wisconsin hockey communities,” said Chase Ernst, CEO/President of Local Hockey Partners. “To bring Matt into a leadership position as the Director of Player Development is a huge win for our Power organization. Matt is a trusted, proven and successful hockey professional and I cannot speak more highly of what Matt brings to our organization. I am confident the future is very bright here in Milwaukee for the Power with his addition,” added Ernst.
When looking at the national hockey scene, Roadhouse believes players from the Milwaukee area are being overlooked and will seek to change that perception by bringing together the area’s best hockey minds, on and off the ice.
“I intend to bring Milwaukee back into the forefront by sharing knowledge through our prospect camps and programs as well as to continue to advocate for our current players. I know there are great Milwaukee hockey players who have left the area to play for other teams inside the NA3HL and we want to change that dynamic in the future. By making Milwaukee a desired destination, we will retain talent from inside the Milwaukee area and the state of Wisconsin but also attract talent from outside our state. As our league and hockey as a sport continues to adapt and grow, we will be committed to changing and innovating with it,” said Roadhouse.
