One Step Closer, Three To Go

Feb 12, 2019

The Power were on the road Friday night in Wausau to take on the RiverWolves. The magic number for the Power to make the playoffs was four wins heading into the contest.

Wausau opened the scoring just over a minute and a half into the 1st period but Milwaukee would tie the game on an Ivan Bilyy goal with just under eight minutes to play. The 2nd period was quiet until the RiverWolves scored to retake the lead with less than 8 minutes remaining. The Power would respond with a power play goal from Logan Geisness four and a half minutes later. The Power weren't done yet as Bilyy would give them the lead less than a minute later.

The 3rd period was all Milwaukee as Jake Bevins scored his first NA3 goal to stretch the lead to two early in the frame. Ethan Dabbs and Ryan Payne added tallies of their own to give the Power a four goal lead that put the game out of reach for the RiverWolves and made it a final score of 6 to 2.

Watch the Power's Top Plays from this past weekend presented by Mike Hughes.

Aaron Dickstein stopped 41 of 43 shots for his 23rd win of the season, which leads all NA3 goalies. The only net minder that can catch Dickstein's win total Mikael Foucher of the Jr. Blues at 19 wins this season.

Dickstein has been a big component to the Power's success in their Inaugural Season and will be representing the Power on the NA3's Central Division Top Prospects Team early next week. Also representing the Power are forwards Chuck Bay and Logan Geisness.

Milwaukee is off this weekend and only have five more games on the schedule, all are against division opponents: one home and road game against the Coulee Region Chill and three home games against the Evansville Thunderbolts.

The Power's magic number for the post season is now three, whether it be wins for Milwaukee or losses for the Wisconsin Whalers. The Whalers play three games this weekend, one against the Chill and two against the RiverWolves so depending on the results of those games the Power could be another step closer come Monday.

The Power will be back in action next Friday, the 22nd, at home against the Chill on Veteran Appreciation Night, the puck drops at 7:45PM so don't be late and bring your items to donate to the Milwaukee Veterans Association. If you can't bring any of the items you can still help by donating a box of Girl Scout Cookies and get a box for yourself!
