The Milwaukee Power have hired Ashton Duplessie. Ashton will serve as an Assistant Coach and Hockey Operations Coordinator. He comes to Milwaukee with an extensive resume at many different levels of the hockey world.
“I’m really excited about joining the Power and contributing to a season we’ll all be proud of. This is a great organization and I believe this group of players is going to do something special this year,” said Duplessie.
Duplessie played hockey through high school before attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He completed the first Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management. While in working on his degree Ashton worked with the Wisconsin Women’s Hockey program, directly under the guidance of Coach Mark Johnson.
“That opportunity provided a deeper knowledge of what it takes to establish a strong culture within a team atmosphere while working as the Video Coach/Coordinator for the women’s team,” said Duplessie. “I was also able to learn methods implemented by the coaching staff, further exposing me to the strategic side of the game.”
Duplessie worked in Junior hockey in the Business Development office for the USHL’s Madison Capitols. In this role, he facilitated strategic planning, implemented marketing initiatives, and developed business endeavors focusing on external sponsorships.
Ashton has also worked for the NHL’s Washington Capitals. “I strengthened relationships with non-profit organizations and assisted in the operation of the Capitals community donation program. Additionally, I designed hockey-based community initiatives intended to strengthen the reach and impact of hockey in the greater D.C. area.”
Duplessie’s most recent stop was in Colorado Springs. He was selected for a position with USA Hockey’s Disabled Hockey program. “I gained a greater understanding of team management through my work with the men’s and women’s sled national and development teams. I also facilitated player and team transfers while working on the USA Hockey Sled Hockey Waiver Committee.”
“Ashton brings a lot of experience at different levels throughout USA Hockey,” said Head Coach Nate Eminger. “His time working with UW’s women’s team as a video coach will be used in every aspect to help our players develop and advance.”
