The Power scored 20 goals over their two games with the Peoria Mustangs at Kettle Moraine Ice Center, extending their winning streak to 10 games. The Salute to Veterans/Military Appreciation Weekend fans were treated to an 8-1 victory on Friday and a 12-3 victory on Saturday. Saturday’s 12 goal performance is a franchise record for most goals scored in a single game for the West Bend Power.
Friday the Power got on the board early, just over a minute into the game when Quinn O’Connor (4) scored off assists from Jackson Hoem (9) and Drew Sparacino (14). Danny Jurcich (2) scored at 11:36 of the first off assists from Hoem (10) and Shaun Paulson (3) to give the Power a 2-0 lead after the first period. The second period saw five goals from the home team for a commanding lead two periods in. Blake Kohnen (6) had an unassited goal at 15:11. Jurcich (3) scored his second of the night at 14:07 off a Grant Schaible (3) assist. O’Connor (5) scored his second of the night at 13:30 off assists from Hoem (11) and Jurcich (18). Elias Holan scored his seventh goal of the season at 12:39 off a Cole Craft (3) assist, and Drew Sparacino (5) scored a short-handed goal at 9:29 off assists from O’Connor (11) and Jurcich (19). The Power added one more in the third period when Holan (8) scored an unassisted goal at 14:29. The Mustangs Nathan Pleva spoiled the shutout on a power play at 2:15 for the 8-1 final. Ben Knutson earned the victory in the Power net, stopping 20/21 Peoria shots on goal. The Power had 52 shots on goal.
The Palermo’s Screamin’ Sicilian Three Stars of the Game were: third star Danny Jurcich, second star Jackson Hoem and first star Quinn O’Connor. The Versi-foam Hard Hat Hardest Worker of the Game was Wyatt Emmett.
Ten different Power players found the back of the net in Saturday’s 12-3 win. The first period got off to an exciting start with the Power again scoring early, just two minutes into the game when Shaun Paulson (4) scored off assists from Owen Miller (10) and Grant Schaible (4). Andrew Burny (3) scored the second goal at 14:16 off assists from Jace Fitzgerald (12) and Bjorn Bahneman (2). Malloy Lomheim (2) added a third goal in the period at 11:27 off assists from Jackson Hoem (12) and Quinn O’Connor (12). The Mustangs battled back, scoring twice on power plays on a 5 on 3 Jordan Mini goal at 8:31 and a 5 on 4 Owen Gruden goal at 7:58. Bahneman (2) extended the lead to 4-2 with 2:50 remaining in the first off assist from Fitzgerald (13) and Miller (2) for a 4-2 score after one period of play. Armani Fishers (4) added another Power goal at 16:48 of the second period off assist from Paulson (4) and Michael Maillette (3). Quinn O’Connor (6) extend the lead at 5:16 off another Maillette (4) assist and assist from newcomer Elijah Covey (1). Benden Miller added the Mustangs third goal at 4:19 and the Power answered with the seventh goal of the night scored by Fitzgerald (16) off assists from Hoem (13) and another from Covey (2). The third period saw the lamp light five more times for the Power. Bjorn Bahneman (3) scored just 52 seconds into the period off assist from Ftizgerald (14) and Blake Kohnen (11). Cole Craft scored his fifth goal of the season at 18:40 off assists from Evan Burchardt (6) and Malloy Lomheim (1). Danny Jurcich scored his fourth goal of the season at 17:54 off assists from O’Connor (13) and Hoem (14). Hoem then scored a goal of his own at 5:19 off assists from Wyatt Garvey (3) and Drew Sparacino (15). Malloy Lomheim scored his second of the night, a power play goal at 1:16 to round out the 12 goal night for the Power. Lomheim was assisted by Garvey (4) and Draydin Johnson (1). Ben Glaesman earned the victory in the Power net, stopping 23/26 Mustang shots on goal. The Power had 53 shots on goal.
