Weekend Preview – Power and Wausau face off in home and away series

The Power and Wausau Cyclones will play a home and away series this weekend, with Friday’s game at Kettle Moraine Ice Center and Saturday’s match up at Marathon Park.

Friday is SKATE WITH THE POWER sponsored by Westbury Bank.  Game time is 7:30pm.  Fans can bring their skates or rent them for free at the rink and skate with the Power players after the game.  Pre-game meal with the Great Outdoors Supper Club is Potato Bar.  Food and beverage service begin at 5:00pm.

The Power enters the weekend at 25-2-1-1 with 52 points in first place in the Central Division.  The Power is coming off a sweep of the St. Louis Jr. Blues prior to Christmas break.  The Cyclones enter the weekend at 16-11 with 32 points in 3rd place, coming off a win over the Rochester Grizzlies on Tuesday night.  The two teams have met three times this season, last facing off October 25 at Kettle Moraine Ice Center where the Power won that game 4-0.  The Power is 3-0 against the Cyclones to date this season.  

The Power is led in scoring by Jace Fitzgerald with 40 points, Danny Jurcich with 34 points, Blake Kohnen with 32 points and Quinn O’Connor and Jackson Hoem with 28 points each.  The Cyclones are led in scoring by Jackson Schroeder with 38 points and Elji Hoffman with 31 points.  Both teams have performed strong on the penalty kill this season as the Cyclones rank third in the league at 86.05% and the Power ranks 6th in the league at 84.38%.  The Power is 21.62% on the power play to Wausau’s 15.79%.  The Power goalies have a combined 2.16 GAA and 0.9206 SV% and Wausau goaltenders have a combined 2.83 GAA and 0.9132 SV%.

“We’re excited to return home and carry the momentum from the showcase and St. Louis. As we head into the second half of the season and look toward playoffs, expectations are higher, and we expect our players to elevate their game and execute our plan.” said Power assistant coach Paul Graef.

Friday’s game is at 7:30pm and Saturday’s puck drop is 7:10 at Marathon Park. Both games will be broadcast on NA TV.
