Weekend Recap – Power picks up wins on the road and at home

The Power started the weekend yet again on the road, adding to a stretch of long road trips before returning back home to Kettle Moraine Ice Center on Saturday and battled to win both games, extending their winning streak to 5 games.

Friday 

The Power traveled back to Rochester for the third straight meeting with the Grizzlies on their home ice and came away with their third victory over the Grizzlies, 4-1.  Grant Schaible scored his first goal of the season at the 8 minute mark of the first period to give the Power a 1-0.  Schaible was assisted by Shaun Paulson (2) and Cole Craft (3).  Adam Sexton had the Power’s second goal of the night, what proved to be the game winner at 3:52 of the second period on a power play. Sexton was assisted by Jace Fitzgerald (11) and Grant Schaible (1) for a 2-0 lead after two periods of play.  Jackson Bielenberg-Howarth got the Grizzlies on the board at 13:36 of the third period to pull to 3-1 but the Power was able to answer with two empty net goals.  Blake Kohnen (2) scored long range with 1:12 remaining and Cole Craft (4) sealed the victory with and goal with 18 seconds on the clock.  Peter Burke earned the victory in the Power net, stopping 38/39 Rochester shots on goal.  The Power had 21 shots on goal.

Saturday

The Power had a quick turnaround to return home Saturday to take on the Wausau Cyclones and came away with their second win on the weekend, their fifth in a row.  There was no scoring by either team in the first period.  Grant Schaible struck first with his second goal of the weekend, second of the season at 11:53 of the second period for the only scoring of the period.  He was assisted by Danny Jurcich (16) and Adam Sexton.(6) on the eventual game winning goal.  The Power found the back of the net three times in the third period.  Armani Fisher (2) scored at 15:19 off an assist from Grant Schaible (2).  Just ten seconds later Evan Burchardt (3) added un with an unassisted goal.  Fisher struck again with his second of the night, third on the season at 11:52 off assists from Sexton (7) and Drew Sysko (4) for the 4-0 final.  Power goaltender earned the shutout victory, stopping all 29 Wausau shots on goal.  The Power had 42 shots on goal.

The Palermo’s Screamin’ Sicilian Three Stars of the Game were third star Grant Schaible, second star Armani Fisher and first stat Peter Burke.  The Versi-foam Hard Hat Hardest Worker of the Game was Quinn O’Connor.

UP NEXT
