Weekend Recap – Power sweeps Grizzlies in Rochester

The Power traveled to Rochester to take on the Grizzlies for the first time this season and came away with a sweep in the two-game series.  Friday the Power won 7-6 and Saturday the Power took game two 3-1. The Power moves to 9-2-0-1 with 19 points on the season.

Friday

Friday was an exciting, back and forth high scoring affair and the Power came away with a 7-6 victory. Jackson Hoem started the scoring at 12:10 of the first period with his third goal of the season, unassisted.  Rochester’s Trenton Fore scored at 5:08 to tie things up 1-1 after one period.  The second period saw 6 goals, two from Rochester and then 4 unanswered by the Power for a 5-3 lead after two periods of play.  Rochester’s goals were at 17:18 and 16:20. Elias Holan scored his second goal of the season at 14:18 off assists from Danny Jurcich (10) and Quinn O’Connor (8).  Drew Sparacno tied the game at 3 with his fourth goal of the season at 11:20 off assists from Blake Kohnen (8) and Jace Fitzgerald (8).  Fitzgerlad then put the Power ahead at 8:04 on a short-handed goal, his 12th goal and second shorthanded goal of the season.  Fitzgerald was assisted by Jurcich (11) and O’Connor (9).  Elias Holan (3) gave the Power a 2-goal lead with his second of the night at 6:07 off another assist from Jurcich (12).  The third period began with Rochester scoring a power play goal just 6 seconds into the period to pull them within a goal, but Austin Westergaard (4) answered with a long-range shot off a Jace Fitzgerald (9) assist.  Rochester’s Mason Decker answered at 14:52 but Evan Burchardt (2) extended the Power lead to two again when he scored the Power’s seventh goal of the night at 10:44. Burchardt was assisted by Fitzgerald (10) and Drew Sparacino (13).    Rochester added one more at 7:57, but despite pulling their goaltender with 2 minutes to go, were unable to tie the game, as it ended 7-6.

Ben Knutson earned the victory in the Power net, stopping 30/36 Rochester shots on goal.  The Power had 24 shots on goal.

Saturday

After a two-goal Friday night, Elias Holan led the way on Saturday, scoring two more goals and tallying an assist in the Power’s 3-1 victory.  Holan scored the only goal in the first period at 2:51 off assists from Hunter O’Neal (3) and Danny Jurcich (13).  Holan started the scoring in the second period with his 5th goal of the season at 10:46 off another assist from Jurcich (14) and Dylan Mees (2).  Shaun Paulson (3) scored the Power’s third goal at 6:53 of the second period off assist from Adam Sexton (5) and Holan (2).  Rochester’s Andrew Bastian scored with 52 seconds remaining in the period.  There was no scoring in the third period by either team.

Power goaltender Peter Burke stopped 39/40 Rochester shots on goal.  The Power had 18 shots on goal.

UP NEXT

The Power will travel back to Rochester for one game on Friday, October 24 before returning to Kettle Moraine Ice Center on Saturday, October 25 to take on the Wausau Cyclones.  Friday’s game is at 7:00 at the Rochester Recreation Center.  Saturday is Halloween Costume Contest and Trick or Treat sponsored by Kohler Credit Union.  All fans in costume get in free and can participate in a costume contest at first intermission. The pre-game meal with the Great Outdoors Supper Club is smash burgers.  Food and beverage service begin at 5:00pm. Both games will be broadcast on NATV.
