The Power and Wisconsin Woodsmen matched up for the first time this season in a home and home series, and each team won the game on their home ice. Friday, the Woodsmen came away with a 6-4 victory in Tomah and the Power responded with a 8-3 victory at Kettle Moraine Ice Center on Saturday.
Friday the Power started off strong, scoring two goals in the first period for the early lead. Austin Westergaard scored his first goal as a Power at 10:41 off assists from Jace Fitzgerald (4) and Blake Kohnen (5). Kohnen then scored his first of the season at 8:18 off assists from the captain tandem of Fitzgerald (5) an Drew Sparacino (4). The Woodsmen responded with a vengence in the second, led by Maxim Lazo’s hattrick in the period and a goal by Jack Dahl for a 4-2 lead after two periods of play. Dahl extended the lead to 5-2 at 17:17 of the third period. Wyatt Emmett made a push for a Power comeback with two goals in the third, one at 13:09 and one at 4:45, but an empty net goal by Lazo with 20 seconds remaining sealed the victory for the home team. Emmett was assisted twice by Evan Burchardt (3,4) and by Dylan Mees (1) and Quinn O’Connor (6) on his goals. Peter Burke suffered the loss in the Power net. The Power outshot the Woodsmen 46-25.
Saturday it was the Woodsmen who lit the lamp first at 12:36 of the first period to take the lead, but the Power was able to respond wtih an Adam Sexton goal, his first of the season off assists from Jace Fitzgerald (6) and Drew Sparacino (5) for a tied 1-1 game after one period of play. The second period this night belonged to the Power, as they exploded with 5 goals in the period. Shaun Paulson started the scoring barrage at 19:34 with his first of the season off assists from Jackson Hoem (2) and Sparacino (6). Cole Craft scored his third goal of the season at 18:17 off a Quinn O’Connor (7) assist. Paulson tallied is second of the night at 13:48 off assists from Austin Westergaard (1) and Hoem (3). Sparacino (3) added the Power’s fifth goal at 12:08 off an assist from Blake Kohnen (6), and Westergaard added his second of the weekend at 7:04 off another Sparacino (7) assist for the 6-1 lead after period two. Jacob Kolker started the third period scoring just 16 seconds in to narrow the visitor’s deficit, but the Power responded with a Jackson Hoem power play goal at 8:20, assisted by Fitzgerald (7) and Westergaard (2) and a Fitzgerald (10) power play goal at 5:14 off assists from Evan Burchardt (5) and Hoem (40. The Woodsmen were credited with another goal at 4:15 for the eventual 8-3 final. Ben Glaesman and Ben Knutson shared the Power net in the victory. The Power outshot the Woodsmen 55-18. The Power moves to 6-2 on the early season and the Woodsmen fall to 2-6.
The Palermo’s Screamin’ Sicilain Three Stars of the Game were: third star Shaun Paulson, second star Cole Craft and first star Jackson Hoem. The Versi-foam Hard Hat Hardest Worker of the Game was Grant Schaible.

The Power travels to Mason City, Iowa to take on the Toros in a cross-division match up Saturday and Sunday. Saturday the game is at 6:40pm and Sunday puck drop is 12:30pm Both games will be broadcast on NA TV.
LOOK AHEAD
The Power will take on the Rochester Grizzlies on October 17 and 18 in Rochester and again on Friday, October 24 before returning home to Kettle Moraine Ice Center on Saturday, October 25. October 25 is Halloween Costume Contest and Trick or Treating sponsored by Kohler Credit Union. All fans in costume get in free.
