The Power travels to Peoria this weekend for the final meeting of the season with the Mustangs for a two-game series. Friday’s game is at 7:00pm and Saturday’s puck drop is 6:00pm at the Owens Center.
The Power is coming off a sweep of the Wisconsin Woodsmen. The Mustangs are coming off two losses from the Wausau Cyclones. The Power sits in first place in the Central Division and is looking to secure home ice throughout the playoffs. The Power, Wausau and Rochester seeding is all still to be determined, the Woodsmen will be the fourth in the Central Division playoffs.
Last weekend the Power saw a balanced scoring attack with 13 different players tallying points Friday night as they put up 16 goals in two games. The Power is led in scoring by Andrew Browe with 67 points, his first two with the Power coming against the Woodsmen. Jackson Hoem (50 points), Teagan Scheurer (38 points), Mike Sobaski (30 points and Lucca Weinkauf (29 points) are also leading scorers. Jackson Hoem was awarded Central Division First Star of the week for his performance against the Woodsmen last weekend. In game one, Hoem netted back-to-back goals in the third period, including the game-winner, and added an assist later on. On Saturday, the Chippewa Falls, WI native scored his team’s first goal in the opening period to even the score at 1-1 and later assisted on the final goal of the game. The Power will look to continue its winning ways against the Mustangs, as they have won all 6 match ups to date.
“We’re looking forward to building off a successful weekend last week. We need to have a focus and intensity that matches a playoff attitude. That’s where we are in the season, we need to provide a playoff focus from here on out,” said Power Head Coach Jason Woods.
Both games will be broadcast on NA TV.
