Weekend Recap – Power sweeps Mustangs in Peoria

The West Bend Power traveled to Peoria to take on the Mustangs and came away with two wins and 4 points on the weekend.  The Power won 6-0 Friday and 6-3 Saturday and moved to 9-4-1-0 in third place in the Central Division with 19 points.

The Power started strong on Friday, scoring four times in the first period.  Drew Snyder got things started with his first goal of the year at 9:35 with assists from Hunter O’Neal (2) and Sam Harper (3).  Less than 30 seconds later, Brody Josselyn added the Power’s second goal of the night off assists from Tommy Kundinger (3) and Sam Harper (4).  Jackson Hoem continued his hot offensive streak with his 10th goal of the season off assists from Michael Maillette (1) and Grant Schaible (4) and Teagan Schuerer added the final goal of the period at 3:24 off assists from Jace Fitzgerald (11) and William McDonald (1) for the 4-0 Power lead after one period. Teagan Scheurer scored his second of the night and fourth of the year at 6:19 of the second for the only scoring of the period.  Scheurer was assisted by William McDonald (2) and Monte Goold (7).  The sixth and final goal of the night, the only scoring in the third period came from Peoria native Blake Mitchell (3) off assists from Brody Josselyn (4) and Tommy Kundinger (4).  The Power had 38 shots on goal for the night and Power goaltender Connor Doyle stopped all 31 Peoria shots for the shutout in his first appearance as a Power.

Saturday started out with a much different tone, as there was no scoring in the first period by either team.  Michael Maillette got the visitors on the board first with his first goal as a Power at 15:32 of the second period.  He was assisted by William McDonald (1) and Drew Sparacino (3).  Jackson Hoem (11) scored again at 13:48 off assists from Odin Klebba (6) and William McDonald (2) for the 2-0 lead.  Jordan Mini answered for the Mustangs at 6:53 for a 2-1 tally after two periods of play.  The third period was a story of back-and-forth scoring.  Teagan Scheurer (5) started things at 17:46 off Oliver Schroeder (7) and Monte Goold (8) assists.  Colten Cox scored for the Mustangs at 15:12 and then Jackson Hoem answered with his third goal of the weekend, 12th on the season at 14:08.  He was assisted by Willliam McDonald (3) and Blake Mitchell (4).  Peoria wasn’t going down without a fight, as Ian Ingles scored at 12:39 to keep things interesting.  William McDonald scored his first Power goal at 9:52 off assists from Michael Maillette (2) and Oliver Schroeder (8) to extend the lead to 2 goals.  Michael Maillette sealed the Power victory when he picked off the puck and took it down to score on the empty net at 1:45.  He was assisted by Odin Klebba (7) and Tommy Kundinger (5).  The Power had 45 shots on goal.  Power goaltender Ben Glaeseman stopped 25 of 28 Mustang shots on goal.

The Culligan Water of West Bend player of the weekend is William McDonald with 6 points: 1 goal, 5 assists.

The Power is home at Kettle Moraine Ice Center this weekend to face the St. Louis Jr. Blues for the first time this season for Military Appreciation Weekend. All military will receive free admission.  The Power players will be wearing custom red, white and blue military jerseys that will be auctioned off after the weekend with proceeds benefitting Camp Hometown Heroes and Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. A limited number of Power military appreciation t-shirts will be available for purchase for $10.  The Great Outdoors Supper Club will be offering pre-game meals both Friday and Saturday night.
