The Milwaukee Power traveled to Wausau this weekend to take on the Wausau Cyclones, coming away with a sweep, keeping their winning streak alive at eight straight. Another 4 points are added to the Power’s playoff standings thanks to a 4-1 win on Friday night and a 5-1 win on Saturday night.
It was all Power the first period of Friday’s game as Blake Keller scored at the 3:13 mark with assists from Max Erstad and Mike Dalaly. Patrick Toomey added to the Power’s lead with another goal at 7:32 with assists from Andrew Butler and Odin Klebba. There was no scoring in the second period.
The third period saw more action as Cyclones player Antonio Gomez scored at :13 with assists from Isaac Baker and Gabe Randel. The Power responded with a goal at 7:11 scored by Blake Keller and assists from Max Mudge and Colin March. The game finished off strong with an empty net goal scored by Mike Dalaly at the 19:08 mark, assisted by Blake Keller and Tommy Kundinger.
Goalie Adam Prokop saved 16 out of 17 shots to bring a win home for the Power.
Saturday night’s game started with a power play goal scored by Andrew Bulter at 7:17. The assists on the goal were Max Erstad and Blake Keller.
The second period saw more activity as Riley Planey scored, assisted by Bryce Garber and Connor O’Neal at the 2:33 mark. The Cyclones scored their first and only goal of the game at 9:54 from Gabe Randel with assists from Antonio Gomez and Adam Napravnik. Power forward Blake Keller then scored at 13:14 with an assist from Bryce Garber. A power play was awarded that resulted in another Power goal, scored by Blake Keller and assisted by Mike Dalaly.
Patrick Toomey scored the final goal of the series at 7:36, Odin Klebba and Luke Nemeth assisting on the goal.
Prokop saved 25 of 26 shots to finish out the series with two victories.
The Kundinger Power Players of the weekend goes to Bryce Garber, Blake Keller and Adam Prokop.
On Friday the Power will be playing in Oregon against the Oregon Tradesmen at 7:30pm. The Kettle Moraine Ice Center will be buzzing with excitement on Saturday as the Power return for the last regular season home game to take on the Tradesmen at 7:30pm. The regular season will be finished out with Fan Appreciation Night and Billet Appreciation Night sponsored by DNA Hemp and Melick Law. Power team photos will be given away to the first 250 fans. All fans will receive raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes from local businesses. Tickets for that game can be purchased online here or at the door.
The first round of the Central Division Fraser Cup playoffs will be the weekend of March 10-12. The Power will face either the Oregon Tradesmen or the Rochester Grizzlies in a best of 3 series. Locations, dates, and times are TBA.
