This weekend, the Power will take home ice to face the Alexandria Blizzard in a two-game series. The two teams went head-to-head twice this season and haven’t faced off since mid-October. The Blizzard scored a whopping eight goals in their first of two games and took an 8-3 win over the Power. The following day, Milwaukee fell short 4-3 and Alexandria swept the series. This weekend will be the Power’s final two games against the Blizzard during the regular season, and both teams are eager to pick up some points.
Like Milwaukee, Alexandria is on the hunt for a playoff spot. They currently claim fourth place in the West Division standings and 18th in the league. In comparison to the Central Division standings, they are only three points ahead of Wausau, whom we trail by ten points. Since the start of the new year, the Blizzard have won five out of ten games played and are coming off a huge 11-0 win from Wednesday night.
The Power were able to secure a much-needed win against the Cyclones this past weekend. Their first night in Wausau was a low-scoring game; after Mason Ausmus tied it up 1-1, the Cyclones eventually came out on top and won 2-1. However, the second game of the series went in favor of the Power. Scoring three goals in the first, they had a strong start and kept the momentum. Spencer Northway stopped 37 out of 38 shots and Milwaukee ended up taking a 5-1 win to close out the weekend.
After being on the road for nearly a month, the Power is finally back home! The first game of this series begins on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. This is the Power’s Teddy Bear Toss, so make sure to bring a teddy bear to throw on the ice when the Power score their first goal! After the game, come skate on the ice with your favorite Power players! You can bring your own skates or rent a pair for free.
The final game of the series begins on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. February is American Heart Month, so we encourage all fans attending to wear red to show your support. Along with this, the Power Perch will have Super Bowl pre-game specials! Join us this weekend to participate in these events and cheer on your Milwaukee Power!
