Preview – Power Look For Redemption In Wausau

Feb 2, 2022

This weekend, the Power will meet the Wausau Cyclones on the road for a two-game series. The two teams last faced off in January, when Milwaukee made an exciting comeback in the second period. However, the Power fell short in the third after Wausau secured a one-goal lead in the final minutes of the game. Taking a 6-5 loss, Milwaukee is looking to bounce back against them and take the upper hand.

The Cyclones have had a strong start to the new year, winning six out of seven games. They’re coming off a split weekend with the Oregon Tradesmen; on Friday, Wausau took two points from an overtime win, then got shut out by the Tradesmen the following day. Currently, the Cyclones are ten points ahead of the Power and 18 points behind the Tradesmen in the Central Division standings.

Milwaukee has found themselves in a five-game losing streak after getting swept by the Rochester Grizzlies this past weekend. On Friday evening, the Grizzlies carried the momentum the entire game and allowed only one goal to get past them. On Saturday, however, the Power had the stronger start, scoring the first two goals of the game and taking the lead after the first. Rochester persisted and scored three goals in the second, but Patrick Toomey tied it back up with a buzzer beater to end the period. Unfortunately, the third period went in favor of the Grizzlies, who ended up taking a 6-3 victory.

This series will be an important one for both the Power and the Cyclones. Milwaukee has a 1-2 record against Wausau this season and is looking to close the point gap between them. Along with this, these Wisconsin rivals are still in the race for a playoff spot, looking to climb the top of the Central Division standings. The first game of the weekend begins on Friday, Feb. 4 at 7:10 p.m. and closes out on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 7:10 p.m. Hockey TV will stream both games live, so don’t miss out on all the action!
