Preview – Power Head to Peoria For Two Games

Jan 20, 2022

This weekend, the Power will travel to Peoria, Illinois for two games against the Mustangs. Milwaukee and Peoria have already battled it out several times this season, and multiple games have ended with just a one-goal deficit. The two teams last met at the beginning of December on the Power’s home ice. The Mustangs swept the Power after taking a 3-2 overtime win to end their weekend in Milwaukee.

The Mustangs have been on a hot streak since the Showcase, where they gave themselves a 2-1 record. Following this, they’ve been undefeated in 2022. Peoria began this year by sweeping the Rochester Grizzlies, who have only lost six games this season and currently sit in first place in the Central Division standings. Coming off a weekend of wins, the Mustangs went on to sweep the St. Louis Jr. Blues on Jan. 15th and 16th. These last few games helped Peoria climb to the top of the Central Division standings, and they’re now tied with the Oregon Tradesmen for second place.

Recently, the Power have been able to overcome adversity after a rocky start to this season. At the beginning of this month, Milwaukee split a two-game series with Oregon, a team the Power previously struggled to win against. The two teams faced off one last time this weekend and the Power took a 4-2 victory. The following afternoon, Milwaukee played the Wausau Cyclones for the first time since October. It was a rough start for the Power, but they were able to make some incredible comebacks throughout the second and third period. However, the Cyclones didn’t give up and scored in the last minute of the game, taking a 6-5 win.

Milwaukee is only five points behind Wausau in the Central Division standings and are still in the race for a playoff spot. Every game counts, so please join us in cheering on your Milwaukee Power! The first game of the weekend begins on Friday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. while the final game begins on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Although this series will take place in Peoria, Hockey TV will be broadcasting the game live! It’s bound to be an exciting matchup, so don’t miss out on the action!
