Preview – Power Set to Play Mustangs in Peoria

Nov 24, 2021

This Friday, the Power head to Peoria, Illinois to face the Mustangs in a short two-game series. These two teams last played each other at the beginning of November. Peoria recorded a shutout in the first game; however, Milwaukee avenged their loss and pulled out a 2-3 overtime win in the second game. This was the Power’s latest win due to some tough games against the Rochester Grizzlies and the Oregon Tradesmen; in the Central Division standings, the Grizzlies and Tradesmen sit in first and second place, respectively.

The Power lost to the Grizzlies this past weekend by a two-goal deficit in both games. Milwaukee played their best game on Friday night; the team would have only lost by one had it not been for a last-second empty net goal. Saturday’s game was rougher with the Power being outshot 59-16. This has been an unfortunate losing streak for Milwaukee but it hasn’t been long since they beat this weekend’s competition.

Peoria has recently started a winning streak, which was extended to three after sweeping the New Ulm Steel last weekend. The Mustangs shutout the Steel on both Friday and Saturday and split their series against the Wassau Cyclones the previous weekend. Peoria has rebounded after a tough start this season season, winning nine games so far with 21 points overall. Nonetheless, the Power were able to beat them less than a month ago.

Milwaukee and Peoria have only played two games against each other this season, with each team taking one win. Because of that, this series may cause a lot of pressure for both teams to try and take the upper hand. However, this may also be the motivation the Power needs to get back on track. The first game of this weekend is Friday, Nov. 26 at 6:45 p.m., and the series will conclude on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m. For those who can’t watch in-person, you can catch both games live on Hockey TV!
