The Power were down in St. Louis last weekend for a three game series with the Jr. Blues. It turned into a tough weekend for Milwaukee on the penalty kill as St. Louis would score five power-play goals.
Cole Shane would start in goal for the Power on Friday, making 35 saves against 39 shots for the Blues. Milwaukee would muster 25 shots on goal with their lone goal coming from Garrett Alton, assisted by Nate Stone and Mason Ausmus.
On Saturday Ewan McDevitt would make his fifth start in net for Milwaukee. He would face 49 shots making 44 saves in the effort. The Power would take two 5-minute major penalties before scoring their first goal of the night with only seven minutes remaining in the third period. Michael Dalaly would score first to spoil the shutout, assisted by Nate Stone and Max Erstad. Max Erstad would score the second goal with under 30 seconds to go on the power-play, assisted by Tyler Nelson and Michael Dalaly.
For Sunday afternoon we would see McDevitt in net again. He would stop 38 of 43 shots faced before Shane was put in to finish out the third. The Power would grab the lead early in the first off a Tyler Nelson goal, assisted by Garrett Alton and McDevitt. The Blues would tie the game briefly early in the second before Nate Stone would score on a tipped shot, assisted by Logan Hartje and Max Erstad. St. Louis would tie the game again shortly after and the period would end tied. The Blues would score two goals early in the third and one more just past the halfway mark to put the game out of reach.
The Power still have a chance to make the post season but they need some help from the rest of the division in order to catch the Oregon Tradesmen. Milwaukee has a tough stretch to finish out the season as they face: Peoria twice on the road, Rochester four times with three games on the road, Wausau twice with a home and road game, and one more road game against Oregon. Milwaukee needs to gain six points to get even with the Tradesmen.
Coming up this weekend is a home and home series with the Rochester Grizzlies as they look to get closer to clinching the Central Division title over Peoria. The Power head to Rochester for Friday and then the Grizzlies come to Milwaukee for a Saturday night tilt at 8:30PM.
