It was a tough weekend for Milwaukee as they dropped two games to Peoria with final scores of 5-3 and 7-1.
Cole Shane would get both starts in net for the Power. He made some highlight reel worthy stops but wasn’t able to keep the Mustangs off the board with their high volume of shots.
On Friday night Peoria would lead after the 1st period. The Power would surge in the 2nd scoring three unanswered goals by Teddy Marion, Trey Bess shorthanded, and Garrett Alton on the power play. The Mustangs would score four unanswered in the 3rd with some controversy on the game tying goal call.
On Saturday Peoria would start off with four unanswered goals through the first two periods. Max Erstad would score from an impossible angle below the goal line to put Milwaukee on the board in the 3rd but it would turn out to be their only goal of the contest.
The Power would lose the battle on special teams giving up four power play goals on the weekend and giving the Mustangs more power play attempts.
Milwaukee will look to rebound as they head to Wausau next weekend for a two game series against the RiverWolves.
“We have to come out and play a full 60 minute game and get back to doing the simple things that were giving us success and execute,” said Head Coach Nate Eminger. “We have to come out hungry next weekend to get back on track.”
